Meet Goanna at the Symposium of Cyber Terrorism

Do you want to know more about software security? Learn about cyber defense? Meet some of the team behind the Goanna technology from NCITA at DSR 2011 in Singapore, August 3-5. We will be giving an overview of at the Symposium on Cyber Terrorism titled “Cyber Security at Software Development Time” and highlighting some of our experiences from the NIST/SAMATE program.

Sean Tapes Go Public

Internally we are encouraging new team members to watch the so called Sean Tapes. There is nothing dubious about these tapes, unless you call Static Analysis and OCaml “dubious”. They are actually just screen captures, in which Sean explains how the Goanna tool performs static analysis for C/C++ code.

We are happy to share Sean’s prized voice-over with you all. Here’s the first video on the use of Goanna.

Plugging Goanna at CeBit

Today is a day of firsts. And this firsts doesn’t include that I got up before 8am; I did this before, even though Ralf wouldn’t believe it. Also it is not that I am wearing a shirt with a collar; this has happened before as well, last time probably when I got married. And we have even been at trade shows before with Goanna as well. Goanna in the iAwards finals!

Cool news: We were made it to the iAwards finals! I should probably explain this: The iAwards are kinda the Academy Awards of the IT industry in Australia. It is mostly based on recognizing disruptive technology originating from down under.

First Impressions

After I finished my final exams in June 2008, I left Germany to travel for almost a year. I first went to New Zealand in August. Afterwards I came to Sydney in the middle of November 2008. I had got an internship at NICTA for one month. This was extended till the end of February.

When I arrived I was explained what Goanna does. I had had a few programming experiences and thought: “Why do you need software for finding bugs? If it does not work, have a deep look at the code and you will find the problem.” (more…)
